helping Feed and care for family pets
The Daisy Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to helping families in Lubbock County feed their household pets. We provide support during times of financial hardship to keep pets with the families who love them and out of shelters.
Our Story: A Legacy of Love
The Daisy Project was born from the heart of Haley Steele, a young woman whose life was defined by a passion for helping others. When Haley rescued her first dog, Daisy, that compassion grew into a mission to protect and care for animals in need.
Carrying the Torch
In April 2020, we tragically lost Haley in a car accident. To honor her spirit and ensure her kindness lived on, her parents, Erin and Daniel Irwin, founded The Daisy Project in April 2025. What began as Haley’s personal mission is now a community lifeline.
Our Vision
We believe that no family should ever have to choose between feeding themselves and rehoming a beloved pet. The Daisy Project provides supplemental pet food to families facing hardship, acting as a bridge to keep pets out of shelters and in the homes where they are already loved. We don’t just fill bowls—we preserve families, honoring Haley’s legacy one meal at a time.
